About Me

meMy name is Sarah Eisenhauer and I am from Cary, North Carolina.  I was born in Merrimack, New Hampshire and lived there until I was seven years old.  I absolutely love to go “home” every summer and see how everything has changed!  I have a younger brother, David, who is currently a sophomore at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.  I guess you can say my parents are lucky – they have a child at both ends of the state!  I attended Cary High School and graduated in 2006.  While I was at CHS, I became very involved.  I was in chorus all four years of high school and I was in the top ensemble for the last three.  My last year, I was elected president and I was also appointed section leader for the alto’s.  This was such a great experience for me!  Not only was I in a class that I absolutely lTraveling through Italy!oved, I was able to get leadership and teaching experience all at the same time.  I also started a club my senior year with two other friends called the Cary High Young Democrats.  This allowed all of the students to get involved in the political process. During my high school career, I was able to travel the world with a group of friends.  In my German class, we planned a European Extravaganza that we embarked on right before my senior year.  I have never had a better time in my life!  I became friends with 30 other amazing people while having the time of my life.  I don’t think it gets much better than that.

Growing up025 we have always had cats.  They are by far my favorites animals.  Over the summer I got my first kitten, named Fenway (after the park – go Red Sox!).  He is such a cutie!  He’s a little love but he’s also very playful.  I have always been into sports.  I took dance for 15 years and also played soccer for 12.  I’m lucky to still be able to play intramural soccer here at school.  My family and I are also very into water sports.  We spend a lot of days at Jordan Lake on our boat either water skiing, wakeboarding, or tubing.

I had never seen myself at Appalachian.  In fact, I had my heart set on either UNC or Elon.  I had a day off from school and my mom pretty much forced me to come look at App.  As we were driving up, I just sat and stared out the window.  I knew right then and there that this was the place for me.  It was absolutely beautiful and it reminded me of New Hampshire.  I went home that night and turned in my application, knowing that I was definitely going to come to school here.

My time at Appalachian has been absolutely amazing.  I have met such a great group of friends and have been involved in so many different activities.  What takes the most time is being involved in the ASU Teaching Fellows program.  I am so lucky to be involved in such a great program.  I have had amazing life and professional experiences through this program.  My freshman year I was also involved the ASU Gospel Choir.  I was able to continue my love of singing and was able to travel all over the place, including Chicago.

I have always wanted to be a teacher; there was never a doubt in my mind about this.  Now as I am coming to a close for my undergraduate degree, I am trying to decide where I would like to obtain master’s.  Hopefully, if all works out, I will attend N.C. State University to get my master’s degree in Special Education.

Quick Run-Down About Me

What I Like

  •  I absolutely LOVE fall – the weather is just right, you can wear long sleeves or short sleeves, and the leaves are the most amazing colors here in Boone.
  • Spending time on the weekends at home with my family is something I can’t get enough of.  Shopping with my mom or playing a sport with my dad is the best.
  • I really enjoy playing sports – I played soccer for 12 years and danced for 15.  Luckily I can still play intramural sports here!
  • I absolutely love animals – I currently have a hamster, named Edward, and a kitten, named Fenway.  I have been known to be a cat lover.  My house is like an animal shelter at times!

What I Dislike

  • I really hate when people can’t see the bright side of life.  We’re only given one life; we need to make the best of it.  Even if something goes wrong, just putting a smile on your face can make it better.
  • One of the few vegetables I absolutely will not eat is beans.  You can make any form of bean (baked beans, lima beans, green beans, etc.) and I promise you that I will not eat it!
  • I love being at Appalachian, but I really don’t like that I’m so far from home.  Sometimes I just want to go home and see my family for a night but then I would have to drive three hours.
  • I really do not enjoy rainy days.  Getting wet then having to spend the rest of the day damp is horrible!  Not only that but it puts me in a sleepy mood.

What I Look Like

One of the most defining features (I’m told) is my hair.  I get asked all the time what my hair color is and I’m not really sure how to answer that.  I’ve been called a redhead, a strawberry blonde, a blonde, and a brunette.  On my drivers license it claims that I am blonde.  I would say that I am a strawberry blonde.  I am currently 5 feet 5 inches and have been for several years.  On many occassions I have been told that my facial features resemble Meryl Streep (my mom gets this too!).  I really enjoy wearing simple and classic clothing.  You can look in my closet and see a bunch of black and white clothing – you can never have too much.

How I Act (Personality)

  • I am definitely extremely ambitious.  I like to make goals and I enjoy the process of reaching them.  I feel that I can always strive to do better.  I never let myself give up on something that I know I want.
  • My friends say that I’m goofy.  I love to make people laugh and I always have a joke to crack.  Sometimes this gets me in trouble, but most of the time it just makes life entertaining.
  • I tend to think of myself as being creative.  I love doing arts and crafts.  You can find me doin anything that involves music.  I love singing and dancing most of all.
  • I am extremely responsible.  People understand that they can count on me.  I am able to do many different things and still get them all done.  I like being the person that you can rely on.

    Hey Sarah!

I’ve known you for quite a few years, but I did not know you could sing…and well! :) That’s awesome, and I guess why you’re the leading lady of “Destiny’s Children!” Sorry, I had to bring that up. :) Also, I hate beans too. There is no type of bean I will eat. Not only does it taste repulsive, but I hate the way it feels in my mouth! I also really like the way you have your pictures arranged on you page! Great job!

I can definitely agree with you about the rain! It is not one of my favorite things, but I do like taking naps when it rains :)

wow Sarah! Your page is really great. Fenway is really cute, and I also love the Red Sox. I have not been to Fenway yet, but I hope to go next summer. I also hate rainy days…especially in Boone. My younger brother is a sophomore at State and he just moved into an apartment in Cary, which is cool because I am getting to know a lot more about that area….which is really nice, and a lot more residential than I thought it would be.
